Tuesday Thoughts: From Moodboards to Music – How Couples Are Using Storytelling as a Design Tool
If you ask me what sets the best weddings apart, I’ll tell you this: the storytelling.
Design in 2025 isn’t about copying a Pinterest photo. It’s about telling a story—your story—through every detail. And as a planner, I love when couples let us help bring those narratives to life.
I had one bride who gave us a list of songs she and her partner played during road trips while dating. We turned that into a curated reception playlist and used the lyrics on her cocktail napkins, menus, and even the welcome sign.
Another couple gave us a map of all the places they'd traveled together. We turned it into a custom bar menu, with cocktails named after each city. Guests loved it—and more importantly, it felt like them.
Storytelling creates cohesion. It ties together the visual elements, the music, the food, the favors. When guests walk into your wedding and say, “This is so you,” we know we’ve done our job.
Weddings are no longer about trends. They’re about truth—and how beautifully we can tell it.
